The McRae Dirk
This dirk is based on one that one of my ancestors carried, and died with in his hand at the Battle of Sherriffmuir in 1715.   (The night before the battle, which was the decisive battle in the First Risin', the MacRae men danced the Sabre Dance on the roof of the armoury at Eilen Donan Castle. That's how sure and ready they were. At the end of the next day there were 58 widows in Kintail, Scotland, named "MacRae". Brave men, but sadly "outgunned.")
The original dirk, which hangs on the armoury wall at the castle, has somewhat lighter colored wood in the handle and the heart on the handle is also carved rather than being brass. As you can see, I've taken a couple of minor liberties.

Blade: 12 3/8" 5160 steel. Length overall-16 3/8". Has a 5" fuller. It has been differentially heat treated.
Handle:  Carved rosewood, same carving as the original.
Furniture: Brass
